In celebration of the Investment Month, held every March, the University of the Philippines (UP-JFA) Junior Finance Association organized the first Philippine Financial Summit - Baguio Chapter, gathering an estimated 750 students and professionals from around Baguio and Benguet. Students from the University of Baguio School of Business Administration and Accountancy (UB-SBAA) participated in the summit.

The event, which was held last March 10, focused on financial literacy across all fields, covering the broader concept of financial literacy and tackling such concepts beyond business and economics. Updates on the TRAIN (Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion) Law, stock market introduction, and entrepreneurship, among others, were some of the specific topics discussed by top industry leaders, government officials and notable personalities who served as speakers.

Following the summit, a mentorship session was organized by the UB-SBAA which was attended by around 50 students from who learned first-hand from some of Baguio’s most successful businessmen.

A similar summit was also organized in Davao, Cebu and Manila. – Wynnett Poblete, Hanna Angway, and Frank Wayang
